LOVE

My three daughters inspire important aspects of my writing and my teaching.   I wrote "A Little Girl's First Haircut" after my youngest turned three.  The dramatic upsherin hair-cutting ritual is traditionally reserved for boys.  Here I explore what happens when it is performed on a girl. Read here this meditation on mothering and gendering (published in Lilith Magazine, April 2014).

the desire to watch our children grow into functioning, confident, capable individuals…and our longing for them to stay close, connected.
